I have always thought that women and children are those who suffer the most on this planet earth.

Especially in the developing world.

When I was asked if I would like to sponsor a Kenyan not-for-profit organisation called Compassion CBO, I first looked at their website to see what it is all about. What struck me straight away were the first few lines:

“Compassion CBO is a grassroots, not-for-profit Community - working to eradicate poverty through education .... and to rehabilitate orphans and vulnerable children.”

Compassion is the right name for this organisation. Their work is all about helping women and children who live in poverty and helping to stop outdated and inhuman cultural practices for girls.
What, I asked myself, is more important than making the world a better and safer place for women and children by empowering them through education and long-term sustainable development.

We live in the 21st Century with all its technological development and, over the last few decades, our world has become quite small and global. I really do feel that we all are responsible for what happens on each continent in the world. In a sense we are no longer ‘separate’ and cannot play at being ‘ignorant’.

We cannot any longer ignore:
- the high level of illiteracy amongst children & women, outdated cultural practices for girls, and natural disasters like drought and HIV/AIDs pandemic, etc....

As we are all interconnected as humans we need to allow ourselves to be touched in our hearts.
Compassion is a quality of the heart, where we feel affected by what is happening to others.
If women and children in Kenya are suffering, we naturally want to help.

I would like to acknowledge and support Compassion CBO in their essential work for women and children and wish their mission to succeed:

- to overcome poverty through education and long-term sustainable development;
- to advocate for children and women, to release them from economic and social poverty,
- and enable them to live responsible and fulfilled lives.

I feel proud of sponsoring Compassion CBO, making the world a safer place for women and children!

Compassion CBO is a grassroots, not-for-profit, Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Kenya. We work to eradicate poverty and enact social change through education and sustainable development in the Githogoro Slums and surrounding areas of Nairobi.
