Because of the strength of my feeling for Reiki, I decided then and there to try to take a course in Reiki before I flew home.
I was lucky, I managed to receive individual tuition in the First Degree on my very last weekend in the United States.
Now I was a Reiki channel, still somewhat uncertain. I started tentatively what I had learnt so far. I remember giving a first Reiki treatment to a woman in my guesthouse in Berkeley. She had a bad headache and she asked for some help with Reiki.
An unforgettable moment
It was an unforgettable moment, because for the first time I experienced healing as giver of hands-on treatment. I could actually feel energy being drawn into her body and the pain in her head dissolved as my hands became hot and tingly. She felt much better after the treatment. The next day I flew back to Germany.
When I returned to Germany, finding a job as a teacher was difficult. However, I was lucky because I got financial support from the government because of my previous teaching job. This allowed me to explore other training courses and new directions for my life.
At that time Reiki was not yet well known in Germany. Luckily one of my friends had done recently also a Reiki 1 class. We started exchanging treatments on a weekly base for several months. We both were impressed with our new experiences and our relationship deepened through the Reiki.
Besides exchanging reiki treatments with my friend, I had already become deeply involved with the technique of Reiki and gave myself a self-treatment every day by treating my head the front and back of my body. In doings so, I contacted very deep levels in myself on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes.
Deep states of relaxation
Never before I had consciously fallen into states of such deep relaxation. I “saw” vivid colours and bright lights inside myself. What impressed me most were the images and memories I received, which put me in contact with past lives.*)
I was overjoyed to have discovered something which brought me closer to myself. For the next three months I treated myself with Reiki on a daily basis.
*The concept of reincarnation is commonly accepted “truth” in Eastern religion and cultures. Whereby the physical body dies at the end of life and the soul is reborn into another physical form (the body). This constantly repeated process happens until self-realisation or enlightenment is reached.
